Egbe Oluranlowo Awon Elewon

A short time ago we started communicating with some Afrikans that are confined in a few of the prison plantations around the country. From this we have started the Egbe Oluranlowo Awon Elewon which deals directly with individual imprisoned brothers and sisters in various imprisonment plantations around this country. In Ede Yoruba (Yoruba language) Egbe Oluranlowo Awon Elewon translates into "Society of those Helping Those in Confinement". It is a branch that we started to send materials in to Afrikans locked away that are trying to develop their consciousness by way of Afrikan liberation. We felt that this was quite necessary and long overdue, especially as it relates to those ordained to do work within Afrikan spiritual traditions. We are humbly asking for donations of books, dvds, cds, articles, kwk for the Egbe Oluranwlowo Awon Elewon. It does not matter if the material is used or new.

The confined Afrikans that we have been in contact with so far are very clear about the problems that beset Afrikans, Afrikan spirituality, Pan Afrikanism and Nationalism, and are simply unapologetically Afrikan. Therefore, we ask that any material that you are considering donating be of that nature. Most of them are interested in Afrikan spirituality, mainly Vodun, Orisa, and Abosom worship (Akan). We ask that any authors of such material that are on this list to especially consider donating. Soon we will be extending this Egbe into the ogba ewon (place of confinement) itself through visitations, workshops, kwk. There is no reason that we within Afrikan tradition should sit back and let the teachers of the fake and false religions go in to the prisons while we sit back pretty in our beads, dashikis, sokotos, kwk. The time is at hand for action.

We are currently consulting with elders in the nationalistic community on how we can go into the prisons and jails and actually do spiritual work for the imprisoned. There is even a possibility that we can initiate some of them to the Egungun/Kuvito society. All of this is work in progress. We welcome any suggestions and comments from those experienced with working with prisoners in any capacity on this.

We have also extended this Egbe to include the Afrikan homeless. The word elewon literally translates as "owners of chains" (name and translation by Akyeame Kwame Obadele Kambon). The connotation is that these are people held down by some sort of chain or burden. This can be extended into the burden of developing self within an anti-Afrikan society. Therefore, those that are truly downtrodden and homeless are a part of the elewon. In light of this we have developed a feeding/counseling program for these Afrikans. Who better to give Afrikan spirituality to? Aren't you tired of "preaching to the choir"? Don't the same people show up at your ile, dressed in their fine clothing and beads, every Sunday? We are also soliciting the help of individual iles, houmfors, bosomfies, kwk for their contributions to this project.

Egbe Oluranlowo Awon Elewon belongs to all of you that donate time, material, spirit, kwk. Several of the Odu Ifa of the month that have come out for New Afrikans, as cast and interpreted by the Damballa New Afrikan Vodun Ancestral Order, has given us a call to charity. Yet, the greater the asuwada (community) the more powerful the charity can be. We cannot sit back while fake religions and their attached ministries run amuck on the minds and spirits of our Afrikan people who see US as inaccessible.

Due acknowledgement is given to Akyeame Obadele Kambon(www.abibitumikasa.com) and Mwalimu Bomani Baruti(www.akobenhouse.com). We say e se pupo (thanks very much) to Obadele for his contribution of the Yoruba terms used and for directly giving us the official name of this branch of the Damballa New Afrikan Vodun Ancestral Order. We say e se pupo to Warrior Scholar Mwalimu Baruti for the call to take on some of the imprisoned contacts that he has been dealing with for a while. From this call and my acceptance the result has been a fulfilling new egbe. Those wishing to contribute please contact me at 443-416-6956 or by email at awo@newafrikanvodun.com.
